PTs provide evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions. They are licensed independent practitioners and credentialed as direct care providers in specific military HPP settings. As such, the contractor shall evaluate and treat patients with or without referrals. This shall include the referral of patients to other staff members that fall within their scope of care.
The contractor PT shall provide the following service in support of POTFF HPP:
- Provides musculoskeletal injury care, utilizing approved supplemental clinical privileges including the ordering of imaging studies, laboratory tests, basic pharmaceuticals, and referrals to specialty providers.
- Directly supervises the PT Tech and PT Assistant within their scope of practice.
- Participates in periodic meetings to review the care provided to patients. Identifies opportunities for improvement.
- Serves as an advisor to the HPP Manager in matters related to injury prevention, SM, and rehabilitation.
- Serves as an advisor to the HPP Manager for administrative matters, purchasing of supplies and equipment, and supplemental fiscal requests.
- Conducts equipment, product, and literature reviews to ensure the HPP stays current with the provision of care.
- Provides input for the development and utilization of relevant databases.
- Conducts peer (record) reviews for the HPP Staff as directed.
- Conducts collection and reporting of workload data as requested by the HPP Manager.
- Assists the HPP Manager in developing and updating criteria-based job descriptions and performance standards.
- Assists the HPP Manager in developing and maintaining clinical practice guidelines to ensure consistency of care across all HPP facilities.
- Assists with the preparation of short and long-term fiscal plans. Submits input to the HPP Manager.
- Develops and promulgates training opportunities for the HPP staff to enhance career development, potential for advancement and to further professional expertise.
- Ensures safe and effective operation of equipment used for patient care and contributes to a safe working environment.
- Attends annual required training in accordance with guiding instructions. Commands will allow for attendance at necessary conferences or courses to complete continuing education units required to maintain certification
If directed will assist in documenting care in the Military’s Electronic Health Record, AHLTA.
